Dec. 2nd, Ulysses had the greatest opportunity to donate our time and some great services to offer in the silent auction. Erin Foley and I showed up to start doing hair and makeup for the staff at Hotel Monaco. Later we had our newest addition Lucius, join and we started to do makeup on some of the most amazing people attending that night. We spent most of the night giving flair and sass!

Fashion Night Out Nov. 6, 2010

One of the most rewarding feelings has to be seeing your name on 2 big screen TV's with your models walking down the runway!!!
Saturday November 6, 2010 I had the chance to style my 7 models for Fashion Night Out for IN Magazine. There were 7 boutiques and each boutique had their own stylist from different salons. I was chosen to be matched up with Fresh on 9th & 9th. They have a great selection for men and women.
I chose my style because it was clean, fun, vintage with a modern twist. I wanted my hair and make up to compliment Fresh's clothing style and show my talent and love for the hair world.

Fashion Night Out

I had the honors to go with IN magazine and do a photo shoot with Mitch Meyer while we shot for Fresh Boutique. IN will be hosting Fashion Night Out Nov. 6, 2010 at Cucina Nassi and we have a few different vendors showing their fall fashion. IN chose different stylist to help with the show and do hair/makeup for each boutique. I was lucky enough to have Fresh! They are an everyday-wear, stylish, and has a classic appeal, all while keeping you up-to date in style. I had the talented Gorgeous Jared help me with the makeup and I did the hair.
Tomorrow, we will have 4 male models and 3 females! I can't wait to see all the talented stylist that will be showing their work at FNO!

make up class

Yesterday my sister, Shasta, and I took a makeup class by Paula Dahlberg. It was an amazing class packed full of information on face, eyes, brows, & lip shapes. We learned the history of makeup and the different ingeredance in the cosmetic products. After the theory section, we had the chance to do a natural look & an avant garde look on models that had their hair done by Steven Robertson and they shot with Jake Garn & Ryan Muirhead. It was so much fun to watch the whole process take place and see my work on film! I learned a lot but I think the biggest thing for me was feeling more comfortable with what I do.
I'll soon be getting the photos back and I'll post them on here as soon as possible

Photo Shoot

Today I did a photo shoot with Mitch Meyer for IN magazine. The photos will be used to advertise for IN's Fashion Night Out on November 6, 2010. I did the hair and Gorgeous Jared did the makeup and helped with styling. We had two models from Fresh Clothing. I loved being on location with the models and playing around with things outside my box. I'm use to very natural looks and this was bright and sassy! I'm loving working side by side with Jared to pick his brain on all this editorial stuff!
Good things are coming and I'll post pictures as soon as possible!

Exciting News!!

Today I was asked if I would like to take on my own part in IN Mag's Fashion Night Out on Nov. 6, 2010. They are choosing one stylist from a few different salons to create a look for 8 models that will represent a local boutique in Salt Lake. I will be shooting an editorial shot with a well known photographer named Mitch Myers and have my look published in IN Magazine. Then, the night of Fashion Night Out, I will build a team of stylist that I want to work with to help me achieve my look for the fashion show... This is all exciting news for me! It's exactly where I'd like to see my career headed! I will keep everyone posted!

pondering some new ideas...

Dear followers,

I would like to offer just a bit more than a few random pictures here and there... I think I might start to blog a little about my weeks in the hair world. Talking about new ideas I have, hair news, or anything I think is exciting in my world. I have a million thoughts everyday about my career and I figure this is a great way to express them, help improve my page, and help education...

Today, my topic is make up... A new topic for me, and I'm loving everything I've been learning in this field! I took my first make up class a year ago from Paula Dalhberg and I will be attending a more in depth class on Oct. 25th.  I've been doing more wedding stuff and a few editorial work, but this is going to give me the chance to do two different styles of photo shoots. I'll be spending my whole day learning the history of make up, all the ingredients, face,eye & lip shapes, and a lot more! We'll have 2 models that will be shot by Jake Garn. I'm excited to build my portfolio and get as much knowledge as I possibly can for my clients!
